BEYBLADE - Scars

Due to popular demand... AT LONG LAST!!! HAHAHA!
I was able to kick-start myself ROFL

Oh and NO, Kai is NOT interested in looking at YOU... just cuz... he's Kai~ ROFL

I had to redeem myself from this fakey looking.... Kai...

Though honestly, I am not 100% satisfied with this work (heck... secretly, I OCCASSIONALLY become satisfied with my works because I ALWAYS feel I can do so much better.... It's often time and my attention span that gets the best of me and so I often use shortcuts just to "finish it all")

Self-critique...
Firstly, the hair... but heck, even in Ray's it's all a rushed brushing of hair XD I admit, I made a BIG MISTAKE on the hair and so I HAD to paint over it again just to cover... COVER the mistake (which is un-undoable already and I realized it kinda late) T_T
Secondly... the scarf... OHH THE SCARF!!! Kai's scarf is supposed to be all smooth and soft~ I made it kinda rough and rugged herebahuuhuuuu
Third, DAT EAR!!! I WAS SOOO ANNOYED BY DAT EAR! I had to like... google "ear" and when I got sick of all those biology stuffs, I googled "ear proportions" then "ear realism" ohhh the horror....... In the end, I just took some random ear image and used it as reference... then eventually decided "AWW GAWD! I WILL JUST GO AHEAD AND DRAW SOME ANIME-ISH EAR THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AND COVER IT WITH HAIR AND SHADOWS!!

...Either way, I used shadows to cover up the parts where I got all lazy and the mistakes and stuffs...

I usually start with the skin, then the hair then the clothes... even in coloring... and so you know how I'm all hardworking and that I have the fullest of motivation at the START of drawing... and then eventually it falls apart... therefore the... hierarchy here HAHAHA XD

HMPH! At least I'm satisfied with the way his mouth turned out... unlike in Ray's which... was kinda blurry-looking T_T

As for the eyes,; like every other person who's drawing Kai, I was torn between his eye color of gray and brown-red. I decided to check out Aoki Takao's direct source- the MANGA. Lo and behold; BROWN-RED! And so it shall be~

I looked at various references of Russian and Asian guys... I had a hard time deciding on how Kai's eyes would be. I then decided to keep them kinda Asian while adding that Russian crease (because I think most Russians have that double-eyelid due to the eye socket having less fat than asians)
saving the very Russian look for someone else who's pure Russian in Beyblade(??) That, and Kai has "smaller" eyes compared to like, Tyson and Max (of course) So Kai is not some "super big-eyed" person imo XD

I shall repeat what I said in the Eyesmirk deviation of Ray...

Either way, I think the cheating with use of shadows and stuff adds to his mysterious aura...... or at least I want to believe it does XDD

I still like the Ray one better even though I failed at his shirt ROFL
